Educational Programs

Exploration & Inquiry-Based Education

The key word is “self-affirmation”. We aim to develop a sense of achievement in class by working on social and international issues.

In the “Exploration” class, students learn how to analyze a huge amount of information, determine the essence of an issue, and communicate with others, all while keeping in mind the problem that needs to be solved.
For five years, from the first year of junior high school to the second year of senior high school, students are engaged in activities that encourage them to subjectively think about issues of familiarity to global issues in scale. Upon graduation, students will have developed the skills and attitudes of the school rubric and will have the self-esteem to confidently say: “I have achieved this much.”

Cross-Curricular Classes

Through cross-disciplinary learning, students develop a multifaceted and multilayered perspective on a single event.

One of the reasons why students like and dislike certain subjects is because they cannot see the connection between them. However, when shown how knowledge from a disliked subject can be used in a discussion of a subject they like, students notice the need for both subjects. It also helps to make the subject they don’t like more interesting. We believe cross-curricular learning can improve comprehension in every subject; for example, some topics in mathematics are easier to understand when you can see them from a physical perspective.
In the future, society will need people who can broaden their perspectives, rather than those who are blinded by their likes and dislikes. To prepare students who can work across disciplines and with people from different fields, Den-en Chofu Gakuen will continue to focus on cross-curricular classes.

Saturday Program

Saturdays to cultivate a rich culture

The purpose of the Saturday Program is to deepen interests and broaden perspectives by allowing students to choose from approximately 170 courses. There are five different fields of study, and each grade level has its own recommended courses to deepen experience and knowledge. Students are also stimulated through collaboration with other grades.

Science and Mathematics Education

Upon graduation, 44% of our students pursue science courses.
The Science curriculum develop further interests and reset difficulties.

Many students feel they are not strong in science and math at the time of enrollment. Through interactive classes and Saturday Program experiences, we aim to stimulate intellectual curiosity and develop an interest in math and science, ultimately eliminating students’ weaknesses in these subjects. Nearly 45% of our students go on to study science in university because they have a clear vision of their goals after graduation based on these experiences.

English Tutorial Classes

Small-group classes taught by native English-speaking teachers are offered from the first year of junior high school to the second year of senior high school. This program is designed for students who wish to participate in external contests, such as the All Japan Model United Nations conference, or who wish to apply to an overseas university. Students will be asked each year if they wish to participate in the English Tutorial program, but they are not allowed to quit the program in the middle of the school year.
