New Year’s Fortunes (English Room)

English Roomでは、英語でおみくじを作成し、設置しました。生徒は自分の運勢が知りたいと、わからない単語はネイティブ教員の助けを借りて理解しました。悪い運勢を引いてしまった生徒はいい運勢が出るまで繰り返し引く姿が見られました。人よりも多く単語を知ることができたので、いい勉強になりラッキーでしたね。
また、English Roomではアルファベットを集めて英単語を作るカードゲーム”Quiddler”を取り入れました。毎年、この季節にスペリングコンテストを全クラスで行っています。生徒たちはお昼休みや放課後に、楽しく英単語や正しいスペリングを学んでいるようです。
It’s a brand new year and all of the students look excited to be back at Denen Chofu! To celebrate 2016, I’ve made some special “omikuji” for the girls who come to visit Jason and myself in the English (D.R.E.A.M.) Room. Since coming to Japan, going out to temples and shrines to get an “omikuji” has been a favourite activity of mine. As such, I wanted to bring this wonderful tradition into our English Room. Our fortune-telling strips include super lucky, lucky, unlucky, and super unlucky New Year’s fortunes. These fortunes also include two pieces of advice for the students as well as a lucky number and colour. I hope these fortunes bring the students good luck towards having a positive and productive 2016 at Denen Chofu!（英語科 西尾、ALT Samantha)
