先週の金曜日、家庭部の生徒がJETのサマンサを「闇」鍋パーティに招待し、一緒に楽しい時間を過ごしました。来日して３ヶ月目のサマンサにとって、みんなでお鍋をつつくのは初めての体験でした。家庭部の生徒は日本の文化を英語で伝えようと悪戦苦闘しながら、それが日本独自のものであることに改めて気づいたようでした。ちくわ、ねぎ、きゅうり、りんご……毎年恒例、鍋にはいろいろな具が入って（浮いて）いましたが、楽しんで頂くことができました。
On Friday, the home economics club kindly invited me to their special yaminabe party! I was very excited to receive their invitation to watch them cook and to eat together with them. Before going to the party, I didn’t know what yaminabe was. They taught me that yaminabe is a type of mystery soup where every student gets to add in one secret ingredient! I was surprised to see apples and oranges being added into a soup. It seems to me that yaminabe is both a tasty feast and a funny game all in one! The students in the home economic club tried their hardest to make me feel comfortable by speaking English. I was impressed by both their cooking skills and their English communication skills.
