Decorating for December （English Room)

English Roomは、12月に入りすっかりクリスマスムードに変わりました。欧米の国々では12月からクリスマスを過ぎて年末までツリーを飾り、理由もなく気分の高揚するような「わくわく感」が続くのですが、その「わくわく感」がそのまま校内にやってきたかのようです。
中等部１年の生徒は自分たちでデコレーションの配置を考え、ネイティブ教員たちと協働しながら室内装飾を行いました。生徒はネイティブ教員に習いながら紙で雪の結晶を作り、今では教室中が雪の結晶であふれています。英語のクリスマスの曲を流していたところ、生徒たちも自然と一緒に歌いだし、クリスマスの「わくわく感」を味わっていたようでした。22日には「本場のクリスマス」を体験できるような、English Roomでのクリスマスパーティを企画しています。
Winter has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time of year for wooly mufflers and hot cups of sweet cocoa. To replicate the coziness of the Christmas season in the English Room, The students, Jason, and I took some time after school to put up some festive decorations. While wearing funny reindeer antlers and Santa hats, we put up a Christmas tree and strung it with colourful lights. The students also did a fabulous job of putting up the fake fir garland and decorating it with red ribbons. Then we were able to make our own paper snowflakes while happily chatting about many Christmas traditions. The students also enjoyed singing along with many of the popular Christmas songs that Jason and I had playing in the background. I think the students top song choices would be the soundtrack from “Frozen” and Mariah Carrie’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.（ALT Samantha, 英語科 西尾）
