DCG Academy Math&English game “Pictionary”

DCG Academy finished its final event of the academic year in February. Students did a brief online lesson and quiz to practice simple geometric shapes in English before attending the activity. Then, they put the vocabulary to use in a fun drawing challenge, based on the game “Pictionary”.

On Wednesday, February 22nd, we held an activity attended by seven students. First, we reviewed the names of five shapes: circle, square, rectangle, triangle, and diamond. Then, students were divided into groups of two, and each pair received a card with an animal and its name in English. Students worked together to draw their animal in only one minute, taking turns drawing shapes. They were challenged to only use the five simple shapes we learned at the beginning, and to say the name of the shape out loud as they drew it.

After one minute was up, each group showed their drawing to the other groups. Their animal card was kept a secret, and the other groups had to guess what animal the drawing was. It was challenging to draw the animals with only five shapes, but in the end, we were able to correctly guess every drawing. In addition to shape names, they also got to practice English names for various animals when they made their guesses. Not only were the students good with math and English, they were also skilled artists!

We are excited to hold even more DCG Academy activities for students to enjoy in the coming academic year.
