今日はスタディセンターにてMeeting Princessという活動を行いました。これはディズニープリンセスの衣装をまとった役者さんに、英語で質問をするという活動です。今年は、アナ・エルサ・ベル・ラプンツェルの４人のプリンセスが来てくれました。午前中は通常の英語クラスに加えて、Meeting Princessの準備を行います。ラプンツェル、アナと雪の女王、美女と野獣の映画の一部を見たあと、プリンセスに対しての質問をそれぞれのクラスで考えます。

午後はいよいよ、プリンセスの登場です。プリンセスが部屋に入ってきた瞬間、その華やかさに圧倒される生徒たち。ストーリーを英語で紹介した後、それぞれのプリンセスがテーマソングを歌ってくれました。特にエルサが歌った”Let It Go”は会場全体が一体となって盛り上がっていました。その後は、午前中に考えた質問をそれぞれのプリンセスに尋ねます。”Why are you so beautiful?” “How long does it take to take care of your hair?” “When did you start to like Kristoff?” ひとつひとつの質問に丁寧に答えてくれるプリンセスたち。本当に夢のようなひと時でした。

Meeting Princess Activity のあとは、来週の火曜日に行うFarewell Partyの準備に取り掛かりました。Farewell Partyにはホストファミリーも来てくれます。彼らを楽しませるような企画をバディと一緒に、一生懸命考えていました。どのようなパフォーマンスが出来上がるのか今から楽しみです。

最後に、昨日のホームステイジャーナルを紹介します。自分の夢を語る生徒や、自分が英語で出来たことを語る生徒、フフっと笑わせることを書く生徒…ジャーナルに書く内容も、レベルアップしてきました。

I went to the UBC today. I met many UBC students and talked with some of them. Most of my group members said, “I have no dream.” But I have my dream. I want to study space engineering at university and work at NASA in the future. I said it to the UBC student. She said, “That’s a good dream.”  I went to Gastown after that. I was surprised that teachers bought a lot of souvenirs and they had a very big bag. (H.K)

We went to the UBC and asked UBC students some questions. All of them knew some Japanese words. After that, we went to Gastown. I bought some souvenirs and had a lot of fun! In a bus, we played cards. It was difficult to explain the rules to buddies but I could do it!! I told them the rules of “daifugo”. It was a lot of fun. (Y.O)

I went to the UBC and the Gastown today. I bought keyholders, a magnet and a dream catcher for my family in Japan. I ate Gyoza for dinner. My father cooked it for me. It was very delicious. Last night I had a nightmare. My family said, “You have to throw away the dream catcher!” (A.Y)
